Over a period of years this cycle of solar pumping will mean that eventually the silica desiccant will have absorbed all the moisture it can, becoming fully saturated. With nowhere else for this moisture to go, it begins to build up on the glass inside of the void between panes therefore causing the effect of foggy windows.
